My name is Shila Cherotich. I am 18 years old, and I am preparing to join the University of Kabianga to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science.

I live in Mombasa with my parents. My family has limited financial resources, and paying for my university education is a challenge for us. Throughout primary and secondary school, I was fortunate to receive sponsorship through Equity Wings to Fly, which helped me complete my high school education successfully. I am very thankful for the support I received through that programme.

I am also grateful to GLOHA Family Welfare and Project Restore Hope for the support they have given me. However, the assistance I have received is not enough to cover the full cost of my university education. My parents are unable to manage the remaining tuition fees and other expenses.

Our financial situation became much harder after my father was involved in a road accident in 2018. He suffered a spinal cord injury and lost the ability to walk. Since then, he has not been able to work as he did before, making it very difficult for him to provide for our family and meet other essential expenses.

Because of this, I am respectfully asking for further sponsorship so that I can continue with my studies. I have worked hard to reach university, and I do not want financial difficulties to stop me from pursuing my course.

I am determined to work hard, remain disciplined, and complete my education. My hope is to build a better future for myself, support my family, and use what I learn to make a positive contribution to my community.
